Booster Club starting in 1996, originally as a social club.
Then, last year became a 501c3 organization to support the team
and the community. In July 2007, the official creation of the
new Club was completed. Doug Moss got the Club started with
becoming a member and from there the Club has grown to more
members so far this season than all of last season.
- The board was self appointed to get the Club started; all
officers introduced themselves. Darlene Speaker made the motion
to approve the officers as board members for the next two years.
This motion was seconded by Diane Brown and was voted yes by all
eight members present.
- Heather explained the Club’s primary purpose is to support
the Phoenix Coyotes, Coyotes Charities and any of the Coyotes
Causes that the Club would like to focus on.
- The duration of a membership is July1 through June 30 for
all dues paying members.
- All members agree to comply with the Code of Conduct at all
times and be the best fans of the team.
- The full Code of Conduct and Bylaws are on the website.
- Guests present were Sarah Finecey and Don Schwartz. Don gave
an update on items orders. Pins will be in on October 15th,
lanyards in on October 11th, T-shirts in next week and pouches
will be in soon. These items will be given out at the meeting on
October 27th. Sarah explained there will be a specific cause for
each month’s focus. October’s focus is Breast Cancer; On October
27th the Susan G Komen Foundation will be present at the game,
the first 250 survivors will receive a pink rose. Peter Mueller
will be auctioning off a basket of his favorite things. His
grandmother is a survivor and this is close to his heart. All in
attendance are encourages to wear pink. The Susan G Komen Race
for the Cure on October 14th was discussed. Don will get more
information to determine if the Booster Club can be of
assistance or have a team walking. The November’s focus will be
adult health. Future causes will be police and fire fighters,
animals, child safety and a possible blood drive.
- Rebecca gave the financial update; stated she and Heather
are the only signers on the account yet the board makes the
decision how the money is spent. The financial statement will be
posted on the website monthly. She stated our first auction will
be at the Redwing game on October 20th. She also explained there
are some start-up costs that will not be seen in years to come.
- Larry gave the membership update; as of the meeting there
were 92 members. He would like to see 300 members by the end of
the season. He explained the Membership Points Program and point
rewards also.
- Dave explained there will be two people per game night at
the Club booth. The Club would like volunteers for this as well
as officers being present at the booth. If members have friends
that are not season ticket holders, they can see the game for
free by helping at the booth. Anyone interested in volunteering
for the booth or any other event can contact him directly or
through the website. He explained the Club will need 20
volunteers on any night we do 50/50 raffle.
- What the members would like out of the Club. Mention of
viewing parties for non-televised away games, bowling parties or
even paintball would be a fun way to interact with one another.
Members would like points for recruitment. This will be
discussed with the board members. Members would like to be very
involved in helping with the Coyotes Causes/Charities.
- Other events mentioned were the viewing of the movie The Rocket.
On Sunday October 7th in Scottsdale, and Derek Morris and Keith
Ballard will be a Chapman Chevrolet on October 21st from 3-5 for
pictures and autographs. The Club will be going on a road trip
to Prescott Valley to see the Roadrunners and the Sundogs on
Friday October 12th. There are over 20 people going to this game
and the price is $10 per seat.
- Heather explained the Booster Club would like to have an end
of the season award to present to a player. This award will be
named after Beth Champie, who drove from Payson for every game.
She recently passed away.
- Heather thanked everyone for their time and support and
hopes to have a fabulous season.
The next Booster Club meeting is scheduled for 10/27/07 at 2:00
PM in the Coyotes conference room.
