"Gretzky, Indy & The WHA” Hockey DVD debuts
in Phoenix for Coyotes Charities, Saturday July 18
Arizona filmmaker Timothy Gassen will bring his
new 2-DVD box set “Gretzky, Indy & The WHA” to Phoenix for a special
charity screening on Saturday, July 18, starting at 7:30 PM at the
Space 55 Theater, 636 E. Pierce Street (in downtown Phoenix).
The screening is presented by the Phoenix Coyotes
Booster Club as a fundraiser to purchase Coyotes season tickets for
donation to the Coyotes Charities Tickets for Kids program.
Admission is only $5 for children and $10 for adults. Tickets are
available at the door and in advance through Space 55. Call Space 55
at 602-663-4032 for advance ticket details.
“Gretzky, Indy & The WHA” explores the wild era of
the 1970s World Hockey Association – a major league rival that
merged with the NHL in 1979. It includes newly found and
never-seen-before footage of Wayne Gretzky in his first moments as a
major leaguer, with the 1978 WHA Indianapolis Racers.
“The parallels of what Wayne Gretzky and
Indianapolis went through in 1978 and what the Phoenix Coyotes are
battling in 2009 are remarkable,” Gassen says. “But the Coyotes will
stay and thrive in Phoenix, and I know their fans will be excited to
see the beginnings of the greatest hockey player of all time.”
Former WHA players are slated to join Gassen in a
meet-and-greet after the screening. The DVD box set, Gassen’s book
on the WHA Indianapolis Racers, and an exclusive poster will also be
available for purchase.

Letter to the Fans From Gary Bettman
After the Open House on Thursday, the Coyotes
posted the following letter to the fans from Gary Bettman.
In it, he acknowledges the work of the Booster Club!
Members, you should take pride in the knowledge that the
Commissioner himself knows about the work we do to support the team!
If you aren't a member, take a look at the
information below and please consider joining! :)
What Can You Do To Help???
It has been difficult for us to plan events or activities because of
the bankruptcy situation, but now that it has been resolved to some
extent, we can really start to show our support for the Coyotes!
#1 - Buy a Ticket Package
http://coyotes.nhl.com/tickets/season_tickets.htm
The primary thing that is going to help the
Coyotes is more people coming to games. Now is the best
time to purchase a full or partial season ticket.
If you can't buy a ticket package yourself,
purchase items from the Booster
Club to help us buy full season tickets, or make a financial
donation that you can afford.
#2 - Attend Events Hosted by the Coyotes / Booster Club
We will be attending all of the Coyotes
events, as always. The next event will be during the week
of July 6th when the Coyotes will host the rookies for a
conditioning camp. Schedule and details coming soon from
the Coyotes.
We are also hoping to schedule a skating party
to help raise money as well. It will be later on this
summer.
#3 Encourage the Media to Support the Coyotes
Over the past couple of months, we have seen
more media coverage of the Coyotes than ever before. Some
of it has been very neutral or positive in support of the
Coyotes, but there has also been quite a bit of negative
coverage, and even suggestions of support for Balsillie rather
than keeping the team here.
We need the media to understand that they also
play an important role in keeping the Coyotes here, and in
selling more tickets/attracting new fans. We need as many
people to contact the print, radio and TV outlets and make sure
they know that we are here, and we demand that they serve the
hockey fan public in the valley.

So please, take a bit of time and communicate with
some - or all - of these local media outlets. Let them know
how much you would like to see them continue to follow the Coyotes
with positive information - rather than focusing on the bad things
that happen.
Our words can help! Thank you for taking the
time to show your support.
Phoenix Coyotes Forever
The mission of the Booster Club is - The Phoenix
Coyotes Booster Club (PCBC) is a non-profit organization created to
promote and support the activities of the Phoenix Coyotes
professional hockey team, Coyotes Charities and the National Hockey
League.
We are already very successful in supporting both
the Phoenix Coyotes and Coyotes Charities during the season, now we
are going to add a new initiative. Our Phoenix Coyotes Forever
campaign will raise funds through donations and the sale of items
for the purpose of purchasing season tickets which will be donated
to the Coyotes Charities Tickets for Kids program. This
program allocates tickets to children who may not otherwise have the
ability to come see a professional hockey game. Hopefully this
will help us to build another generation of hockey fans!
Because we are planning a long term campaign of
raising funds to buy season tickets, we are using the slogan -
Phoenix Coyotes Forever - for all season ticket targeted fund
raising. We have created some items to help us raise funds for
the season tickets.
The items we have are -
Maroon Phoenix Coyotes Forever
bracelets (the
Live Strong type) - $5 each
White Phoenix Coyotes Forever t-shirts - $10 each
Maroon ladies v-neck Phoenix Coyotes Forever
BLING shirts - $30
each
These items are now available for order
online.
If you'd like to make a donation, please visit our
donations page.
We accept PayPal so your donation will be secure.
